KSF Tuition Project Funding History:

A very vivacious young person, Nora was eager to abandon her relentless work at a rural Kilema Hospital in order to pursue an education.  She had been living at the hospital having no other accommodation  In 2008, Canadian donors, working briefly at Kilema Hospital, agreed to sponsor Nora to attend school at Olaleni Secondary school in the Kilema District where she began to flourish.  HIghly sociable, hardworking and a effective advocate for herself she was awarded a top position in the student body, ‘first girl’ in 2010.

2013: Unfortunately Nora failed to pass Form 4 at Olaleni School which is not uncommon for many students where the schools attempt to weed out  students at the higher levels rather than assist them to succeed.  She stayed out of school last year 2012 , working in the Kilema Hospital admission office receiving patients and also following up with unpaid bills, often having to visit patients and their families in the hospital to collect or negotiate collection. In  2013  Nora chose to study data management in Tanga and was funded to complete her certificate thanks partially to Canadian donors Jim and Margaret.

2014:  Nora succeeded in completing her certificate in Data Management in 2013 but quickly realized that she would have greater success if she completed a two year diploma.  She is eager to have greater independence from Kilema Hospital where she sees some limits in income and autonomy.  In 2014  she was so pleased she successfully found funding from three Canadian donors and commenced studies in January of 2014.
